API - application programming interface; allows scripts and programs to access data
AR - Accelerated Reader, a reading program (with online quizzes) for elementary and secondary schools
ARC - advanced reader copy
BM - BookMooch, an online book trading site
CA - circa, approximately
CK - Common Knowledge
CSV - comma-separated values; LibraryThing can export some of your data in this format
DDS - Dewey Decimal System, a popular method of arranging books (often found in public libraries)
DJ - dust jacket
ED - edition or editor
ER - Early Reviewer, a LibraryThing program allowing members access to advanced reader copies of titles
FAQ - frequently asked questions
FF - the Firefox web browser
GN - graphic novel
GSLIS - graduate school of library and information science
HC - hardcover
IE - (1) the Internet Explorer web browser; (2) id est, meaning "that is" or "in other words"
ISBN - International Standard Book Number
ISSN - International Standard Serial Number
LIS - library and information science
LC or LoC - Library of Congress (U.S.); can also describe a classification system used in many academic and large public libraries
LP - large print
LT - LibraryThing
LTFL - LibraryThing for Libraries
LTL - LibraryThing Local
MLS or MLIS - Masters of Library (and Information) Science, the standard professional degree for U.S. librarians
MMPB - mass-market paperback
NF - non-fiction
NYRB - New York Review of Books

OOP - out of print

PB or PPB - paperback
RSI - Recommend Site Improvements, a LibraryThing group for suggestions
RSS - Really Simple Syndication; a way to retrieve updates of certain data through a browser or RSS reader
