Today MEM and the grandkids were visiting and MEM and I were talking about Oprah. Missie asks after a few minutes, "So what did she sing?" confused I said "Who?" and she says "Opera, you said you watching opera!" LOL so we explained who Oprah was and all but that was just too funny!

LOL! We've had plenty of moments like that around here!

Grandkids that know what Opera is, but do not know who Oprah is ?

Ah, my faith in humanity and USA is restored.
Now if they only know who the big Bopper was . . . .

I've got one for you. It starts off a little sad.

One of our 6 year olds at church was telling us this story about her teacher's husband. He was jogging on the trail and collapsed. With the most serious face she said "And they had to do GPS on him"...

*side note: he's fine now.

Funny kirby!

I put this one on FB, but I'll repeat it here. Last night, my youngest was coughing a lot after rough-housing with my son. She told me, "I think Chase impaled me with laughter too much!"

Today at my interview one little boy was observing me with frank interest so I smiled and said Hi!. He said hi, no smile or anything, so I continued, How are you, today? He said fine(one beat) how are you? Delighted at this response I said I'm very well ,Thank you! and ten he ran off to play! How great is that?

I saw the cutest little girl on a bus the other day. Her dad had picked her up from school and they were going home. A woman asked if the girl went to a private school because of her uniform. The father said no, but that uniforms were what his daughter desperately wanted so uniforms were what she got. The little girl moved closer to the woman to show off her uniform. She was asked what she'll do when she gets to high school: "Lots and lots of homework." She's a second grader this year.

One time I was volenteering with the preschool group at my churches summer bible camp. One of the teachers were doing a role play about Jesus calming a storm in front of the whole camp and called one of the preschoolers up to play a disciple. The teacher asked her what deciple she wanted to be and who was her favorite disciple. She replied lould and clear "BIG BIRD!".

My dad's favorite church story was about a play where Mary and Joseph can't find Jesus because he was talking with the elders at the temple. Mary came up to Jesus, with hands on her hips and said "Jesus Christ, where have you been?"

My nephew's birthday was last week and I left a voicemail where I sang Happy Birthday. Later that day, his mom called me back and I had to sing the song three more times ("More Happy to you, Headah?") and then his mom had to play the VM another 5 times after we hung up.

Last night, his mom called to chat and when he interrupted she asked him if he wanted to say "Hi" to Aunt Heather. I then very clearly heard, "Headah? Happy to You?" I've created a monster.

Rob walks in and lays a pile of freebies from his work conference on the table. He and I greet each other. Then...

Rob: "Hey, Honey, let me show you this nifty pen I got ."
He begins to sort through the pile of stuff.
Cole: "Sorry, Daddy. I was trying to fix it because of my accident."
He hands Rob his pen back in four pieces.

Completely dismantled it in under 2 minutes 8)

Last year before my best friend's wedding, we decided to have a little sleepover for the bride, the adult bridesmaids and the 5 year old flower girl, so that the little one could get to know us better and would then feel comfortable spending a lot of the time with us during the wedding itself. At one point during the evening, she needed to use the bathroom, so I asked her if she could manage or if she needed help, to which she replied, "I can manage, but I'd adore the company!". I thought that was wonderful!!!

One of my best friends has adorable little brothers. The other day, her mom was asking the oldest (7th grader) who he likes and asked if he wanted a girlfriend. He said yeah and then she asked him why. He said he didn't know. At that moment, her youngest brother (8-year-old) came in and said "Girlfriends are like cellphones. You just gotta have one!"

Hahaha! So young and already knows so much. :D

My cousin-in-law son (3-years old and fantastically British) asked her if he could have a girl for Christmas, preferably a blonde. To which his older brother (6-years old) replied that he'd have to make do with a doll.

On Halloween I was taking my neighbors 4 year old grandaughter around the neighborhood to trick or treat. She heard some other girls singing that "trick or treat smell my feet" song. When the 4 year old heard the line "I'll pull down your underwear" she shouted at the top of her lungs "UNDERWEAR!" Everyone burst out laughing. Then she came up with her own very loud song "Trick or treat. Give me something good to eat. UNDERWEAR! UNDERWEAR!". She sang it for the rest of trick or treating. It was annoying, funny and cute all at the same time!

Cole has been obsessing over death recently. Finally my husband told him that only really old people die and then go to heaven. Cole says, "Then why isn't Grandma in Heaven?"

HAHAHAHAHAHA so cliche but since it was about mom... 8)
