About meI'm a 47 year old Dutchman who is absolutely mad about beautiful books. Book collecting is not 'a gentle madness' as Nicholas Basbanes holds, but a terrible, incurable disease that's getting worse as one grows older. But, it must be said, it's also the only disease that can be cured by books alone.

About my libraryMy library counts 4600+ volumes, with a current grow rate of about 500 books per year. Main focus on islands, travel, discovery and exploration, (maritime) history, books about books, atlases and erotica. Here on LT, I plan to add my non fiction books and mainly those that are in English, German or French. Adding my books will be a tough job nevertheless, since so many of them are pre-ISBN or otherwise cannot easily be found in on-line book resources. I found that 100's of my books are not even in the Library of Congress, for instance. The tag 'ex-lib BB' used in my library means that this book has been acquired from the library of the late writer, collector, traveller and TV personality Boudewijn Büch [1948-2002].
